Vextractor

It is true that CAD applications, such as AutoCAD, Corel Draw, and Adobe Illustrator provide support for raster images. You can import a JPG or BMP file, for example, and edit it in your CAD program of choice. It is also true that you cannot edit the raster as easily as you can do vector data. That is why you must convert the raster images to vector – and that is precisely the sort of functionality you can expect to get from the VextraSoft-developed application Vextractor.

Before you can enjoy the functionality Extractor has to offer, you must go through a download and an installation process first. The good news is that both of them will not take much of your time. The download is of only 3.9MB and the installation process is nothing more complicated than going through a few steps a setup wizard presents to you. It must be mentioned here that you can install Vextractor in several languages: English, French, Italian, and German (if you install the application in English and change your mind later on, you can select another language from the “View” menu).

Even though the Vextractor application is not meant to novice computer users, its interface is simple enough that even such a user will figure out what everything does. To make things even easier, Vextractor comes with a Vectorization Wizard that will take you by the hand and guide you through the process of turning a raster image to vector.

As mentioned above, that is the main functionality Vextractor has to offer. It takes a drawing, map, photo, logo, black-and-white illustration or other image and convert it to the following vector formats: DXF, WMF, EMF, EPS, AI and SVG. You can take that vector file, import it into your CAD application of choice, and edit it with ease.
